Washington, DC- Congressman Jon Porter announced today that the United States Veterans Initiative has been awarded $170,000 through the Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP), enabling them to serve veterans throughout Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City and Clark County.
HVRP was created under the Department of Labor's Veterans Employment Training Administration in an effort to foster the successful reintegration of homeless veterans into the labor force. HVRP grantees enroll thousands of homeless veterans annually in programs that involve substance abuse counseling and treatment, job counseling and referral, employment assistance, transportation, housing and clothing.
"As a result of this grant, veterans will not only be assisted, but will be given the tools necessary to readjust to our work force and communities. Grants and programs that emphasize not only treatment, but also assistance and integration, are imperative for the ultimate success of these deserving individuals."
