LAS VEGAS - This weekend, PolitickerNV.com will sit down for an exclusive interview with Democratic 3rd Congressional District candidate Dina Titus.
Do you have a question for Titus? Between now and Friday at noon, we'll be taking questions from readers to ask the twenty-year state senate veteran, onetime gubernatorial candidate and current congressional hopeful.
Please include your name and hometown and leave your question in the comment box or e-mail questions to joseph.cooper@politickernv.com.
Titus, who announced her candidacy against U.S. Rep. Jon Porter (R-Boulder City) May 1, is considered one of national Democrats' best hopes to pick up a Republican seat in the House of Representatives.
I got a call from my cousin Wally in Colorado last night right as I was in the middle of heating up my Hungry-Man dinner.

Question for Dina Titus
Why don't you ask Dina Taxes why her Democratic pals just passed the biggest tax increase in histroy?
Is she going to cut the pay
Is she going to cut the pay raises? Things are getting a little more expensive you know...
How do we stand up against
How do we stand up against Republicans labeling us tax and spenders and saying we're weak on defense and national security?
What did you hope to gain by
What did you hope to gain by going to the Memorial Day service at the BC Vets Cemetery- when you have never gone before?
Clear to everyone was your political intent, which we all found to be even beneath your usual low self and extremly insulting. What is your limit as to how low you will stoop to win?
Also, have you thought about getting your vocal cords snipped to fix that voice???
I can see it now- the
I can see it now- the beautiful town of Henderson becomes innundated with section 8 housing, our taxes raised to fund a halfway house and we ship non English speaking children in to our schools so they can get 'a fair chance' at education, that we, of course will pay for.
My question- hasn't it sunk in that voters don't want you? Get over yourself- you weren't that great and we're just not that into you.!
Please ask her why she
Please ask her why she supports giving the Millinuin Scholarship to illegal immigrants, especially if we are having to subsidize it with taxpayer money! (It was meant to be a gift for our students, not an entitlement). Ask her why she was against students having to have a social security number in order to get it. The law is the law- illegal is illegal, does this not matter to her??? How will she handle to immigration mess if elected? Will she just fling the doors open wide and let everyone in, ask all of us citizens to pay for them and call us racists if we protest?
I highly doubt you'll ask her these questions - this forum seems to be a tad left leaning! God forbid she answer questions we all want to know the answers to that might be a little tough.
Dont all of you in Camp
Dont all of you in Camp Porter have something better to do, like cozying up to Cheney, Bush and all your oil buddies who are going to make a killing Enron style. You people are pathetic- how could you want more of the same?!? CAN YOU NOT SEE WHAT A MORON PORTER IS? HE IS GEORGE W. BUSH WITH A NEVADA DRIVERS LICENSE!!! WAKE UP AND SMELL THE $5 A GALLON GAS, IDIOTS.....
Education
I know you have fought back hard against the Governor's budget cuts in the area of education during your time in the State senate. Should you win in November, I am curious to know how you plan to improve Nevada's education (a largely state issue) from your position as a congresswoman (a federal office). What role should the U.S. congress, and the federal government in general, play in improving our failing education system here in Southern Nevada?
Hey Porterisamoron
You should probably do a little thinking of your own instead of letting the media talk for you.
Ask yourself this question, when did gas prices start getting above the 2 dollar a gallon mark?? Early 07
When did the democrats take control of Congress?? Early 07
Ask yourself why it is that we in Nevada are paying quite a bit less per gallon of gas then California does, when all the gas in nevada has to be shipped here from out of state where as in California there is no in-state shipping?? The answer is, TAXES.
You democrats won't stand a chance in November once the american people realize what your taxing has done to affect their living. Its a shame that tax day won't come until after the election, because that would only further bump republicans' chances of winning.
Senator Titus Question
I know Senator Titus has been an advocate for many issues during her 20 years in office. What will her major issues be when she gets to congress. What does she think is important to the people of our state?
Dina, I know you are an
Dina,
I know you are an advocate for Education, how do you plan to fix the issues regarding education in Nevada?
voter from a distance
All you anti-tax freaks need to learn your history If you did, you would realize that the first government our country created after winning our independence from Britain failed miserably because it lacked the power to tax (it was called the Continental Congress and they ruled under the Articles of Confederation) Luckily the founders learned real quick that unless you can tax, you can't defend, educate, and HELP improve the lives of citizens. I know your response will be that people should not rely on government to take care of them. I agree, but there are some things, like building schools and roads, taking care of homeless vets, and many other things that we could not do if we did not have taxes. I know that it has become a four letter word but maybe if all you anti-tax freaks stepped back you'd realize we have the worst education, highways, infrastructure, health system oversight, etc in the nation (or close to it). Taxes are a necessary evil. You people who reject taxes out of hand would rather watch our country collapse than tax millionaires a tiny bit more. That is not only dangerously naive and ignorant, but it threatens our great nation and our way of life. I hope we can all agree that taxes to build schools and fix roads are not a bad thing. I do not think that repealing the tax breaks and loops for big oil will hurt the American people; I think not funding schools and our vets could really cripple our future. Your point on gas prices is comical, we are paying 10 cents below the national average- what a HUGE break. You and I both know that Iraq and our Oilman president are the reasons for high prices, not a democratic congress with a bare majority. Why dont you guys ever think before you talk. Put your GREED aside- its not about YOUR money, its about OUR children and OUR troops who have died and been injured protecting your freedoms. Now you say we shouldnt give them benefits because you might get taxed? America was founded on the premise that we stick together, not that we SELFISHLY cling to our money and refuse to help others who are making our great nation even better. I think it is you, not I, who needs a reality check.
